Free Practicing at STÄPS
The equipment and devices at the STÄPS theme rooms are open for free practicing on Monday through Friday, 14.00 to 22.00 hours. Please register beforehand by entering your name on the list at the entrance. STÄPS tutors will give you a short briefing before you can start practicing your skills.
The following skills can currently be practiced:
Ophthalmology
- Fundoscopy
Surgery
- Physical examination
- Sonography, also guided by tutors (see poster in the STÄPS rooms)
- Wound stitching and knots
ENT
- Otoscopy, rhinoscopy and laryngoscopy (after participation in one of the ENT tutorials)
- Rinne- and Weber Tests
Hygiene
- Hygienic and surgical hand disinfection
Internal Medicine
- Internistic examination
- Auscultation using a simulator
Interdisciplinary
- Blood draws, insertion of peripheral indwellings, s.c. and i.m. injections using an arm model (guided by a tutor)
- Exam preparation in small groups: mutual examination, patient presentations
Neurology
- Clinical-neurologic assessments (reflex hammer, lamp, and tuning fork can be provided)
Emergency Medicine
- Basic Life Support and Airway-Management
Sonography
- Sonography with three sonographic devices
Student groups to attend lessons held by tutors: Practice sessions with Lena Raddatz, tutor at the Surgical Learning Studio
